Who We Are?
The Centre for Humanitarian Research and Social Development Foundation (CHRSD) is an independent, non-political, and non-profit organization dedicated to the intersection of environmental sustainability, evidence-based policy research, and community-centered development. Registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, we operate as a multi-disciplinary foundation committed to protecting human rights, advancing social justice, and fostering institutional accountability across Bangladesh and globally.
In an era defined by rapid digital transformation, CHRSD distinguishes itself through a “Smart” approach to traditional development challenges. By leveraging our strategic consortium with Nevronus Systems, we bridge the gap between humanitarian field-level expertise and cutting-edge technology—using GIS, satellite remote sensing, and biometric verification to ensure our programs achieve measurable and verifiable impact
Our Vision and Mission
- Our Vision: To build a greener, more climate-resilient, and digitally accountable nation aligned with the “Smart Bangladesh” framework.
- Our Mission: To empower vulnerable communities through investigative research, advocacy for rights-based laws, and the implementation of large-scale digital governance programs that ensure transparency and professional accountability
Our Strategic Approach
We believe that lasting change is achieved by combining evidence, technology-driven advocacy, and community action. Our work is guided by four core values:
- Independent: We operate free from political, religious, or external influence.
- Rights-Based: All initiatives are grounded in international human rights principles.
- Collaborative: We maintain strong coordination networks with government bodies, local administrations, and civil society actors.
- Accountable: We are committed to transparency, ethical data practices, and measurable results.

Our History
Founded on the principles of social welfare and charitable service, CHRSD was formally registered to address the compounding environmental and social threats facing Bangladesh. From our headquarters in Motijheel, Dhaka, we have grown from a local voluntary body into a nationally recognized foundation capable of managing multi-crore, multi-year developmental projects in coordination with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
